Kaleidofish Studios (formerly known as Ouroboros Connect or ouroboros[connect]) is led by writer and creative developer kaleidofish. Under the moniker kaleidofish, I create and assist others with the creation of various projects such as visual novels, interactive fiction, story-based games, and more.

Kaleidofish Studios has been active since early 2012. My stories range from the dramatic to the comedic, and sometimes somewhere right-in between.

Most of the projects on this site wouldn’t be possible without the help of my friends and collaborators. To see what we have created, visit the Downloads page. Teams are different from project-to-project. I’m the only consistent member across the board.

kaleidofish enjoys cheesy horror movies, bully dog breeds, Rick Grimes’ sheriff uniform, and electropop music. Some favorite digital games include Sleeping Dogs, Catherine, The Walking Dead, the Ace Attorney series, Shenmue, the Zero Escape series, Valkyria Chronicles 1 & 2, and the Yakuza series. Some favorite analog games: Shadow Hunters, Fluxx, Bohnanza, & The Resistance/Resistance: Avalon.

Like every good super hero, this studio had to start somewhere. I’ve always been someone who doodles in words. I consider myself a literary artist, and I strive to improve myself and my craft with everything that I do.

After several attempts at visual novel making when I was younger, I decided to take it more seriously in January/February 2012. Without taking that step, I wouldn’t be the same person I am today.

Fun fact: in my 4th grade year book I wrote that I wanted to be a game designer and a comic book writer. Here’s to you, kid! Thanks for never letting your fire burn out.

What’s a visual novel?

Oh, hey, obligatory Wikipedia quote time: “A visual novel is an interactive fiction game, featuring mostly static graphics, most often using anime-style art or occasionally live-action stills (and sometimes video footage). As the name might suggest, they resemble mixed-media novels.”

Who is in Kaleidofish Studios?

I work on games on a project-by-project basis with people. There is no specific set-team for Kaleidofish Studios.

When will ________ be released?

School and other real life obligations eat up most of my time, sadly. I usually drop release time hints on my Twitter page. Follow me for the latest updates. As of the end of September 2015, I’m in my senior year of college. One of my requirements to graduate is a 9-month long capstone project. This is currently taking up the majority of my time.

How many projects are you working on?

I’m working on several in varying states of development! Subscribing to my blog is the easiest way to stay on top of updates. Twitter gives you faster snippets of information.

What’s your favorite cereal?

Count Chocula!

What’s with the pork bun picture?

It’s a Sleeping Dogs reference. It also sums up my love for pork buns.

Are you open for commissions?

Due to my busy schedule, not exactly, but I’m interested depending on the length of the project. Use my Contact page to get in touch.

Where can I read Redwood Crossing?

You can find Redwood Crossing here on its own website.
